The History of Dinoscience Ministry
Dinoscience Creation Ministry has grown out of our family's love for God, our enthusiasm for learning, and our
passion for sharing the truths that we have learned with others.
Mike and I were both raised believing that evolution was a proven fact, and that Adam and Eve somehow fit in
with the fact that people evolved from apes. When our Mikey and Kyle came along, we taught them the same
thing. Like most boys, they were fascinated by dinosaurs, and gobbled up books and movies about them. Every
source of information seemed to agree that dinosaurs died about 65 million years ago. We bought the idea
hook, line and sinker, never thinking that what we were teaching our children was really an idea based on half
truths and conjecture.
While I was teaching my pre-schoolers that dinosaurs died out 65 million years ago, and probably evolved into
birds, I was also taking classes at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay. One of those classes was Human
Development, which explained evolution in greater detail than I'd ever studied it before. That's when doubts
began to surface.
We were taught that humans evolved through various stages, starting, like everything else, as single-celled
organisms, and moving through stages like lobe-finned fish and small rodents. Nowhere did I see any
explanation of where the new genetic information came from. There were photos of frogs with extra limbs, and
humans with missing limbs These are examples of mutation and variation, and they were being touted as proof
that people evolved from apes. It was simply taken for granted that the information came about through random
mutations, but as we will see, science and history show that mutations never result in the creation of new
genetic information.
It was at about this time that I found a book at a rummage sale called Scientific Creationism, by Dr. Henry Morris.
I happen to love science fiction, and to me, that's what Scientific Creationism sounded like; science fiction.
When I began reading the book, it turned out to be very technical, and very well documented, and it pointed me in
the direction of other resources. After much research, I came to the startling conclusion that not all scientist buy
into the story of evolution from microbes to men. In fact, there are thousands of scientists who believe exactly
what the Bible says about how and when God created the Universe and everything in it. As I delved deeper, I
was amazed to learn that science and the Bible are not mutually exclusive. Was my face ever red the day that I
had to explain to my five- and three-year-old sons that Mommy was wrong about when the dinosaurs had lived
and died!
Our family has now been studying this field of science for over a decade, and the more we learn, the more
amazed we are, so in the summer of 2005, we decided that we needed to share the information we've gathered.
We were privileged in the summer of 2005 to be able to present a series of classes called "What Do The Facts
Say?" We hope in the future to share what we've learned with others, and this web site is one of the ways that
we hope to accomplish this.
Who Are We?
We are a home schooling family with a passion for God and a deep and abiding interest in science. Dad and
Mom are Mike and Susie, and the kids are Michael, Kyle, Nick and Christopher.
Mike is the man who gets things done. A master plumber by trade, Mike has participated in many projects that
involve helping people, including a volunteer trip to the flood ravaged New Orleans area. Susie is a full time
Mom who is hoping to finish her Bachelor's degree. Eventually. :-) Mikey is currently in his third year at UW
Marinette and plans to pursue a degree in microbiology and become a high school science teacher while
working towards a Doctorate. Kyle is currently a senior in high school who enjoys screenwriting in his spare
time. Kyle has published several fanfics on the 'net, and his Adventures of Lex and Scar in Manhattan apparently
has quite a following. Nick is in ninth grade, and wants to be an engineer, with plans to eventually attend MIT,
and Christopher is our seventh grader who loves horses and other animals, whose chosen career path at this
time is undetermined.
